Default Drag radial worthy of daily driver?

I live in Indiana and am looking for a good drag radial that will hook well. This radial needs to be able to be driven in rain from school to work. I was looking at the Nitto 555R, Yokahama's and Kumho's... Which would you guys go with? Thanks
T.J

First off, Yokohama and Kuhmo don't make drag radials. The best all around drag radial for street use is the Nitto 555R. Nothing comes close to is performance in the rain and tire wear.

Are these not all radials?

I thought these all were radials but I may be mistaken...

there's a difference between a drag radial (street legal race compound tire) and a radial (normal street tire).

Nitto drag radials are great for daily driving. I've put nearly 10k on mine in all types of weather and honestly think they've done better than any normal street tire I've tried. Only problem is they only last about 15k miles at best.

Any other tire that may last longer and still has real good grip?
I will eventually have a TCI3500, shift kit and 3.73's...

Go with the Nitto. Will last about 15k to 20k miles.

I drove around in the rain and such for over a year on Nitto DR's with no problems whatsoever, until they went bald of course.

An alternative to a Nitto would be the Yokohama Advan A032R, its expensive, but you can chose from different compounds so they last longer and they hook up very well if you have less than 500rwhp.

What about some real nice street tires? I will not be putting down very much power. Would I be better off buyin a nice street tire or a DR?

Depends, nothing else will hook as well as a drag radial. On the other hand, nothing else will wear out as quickly either.

EDIT: My nittos stuck damn well. I also got 10,000 miles out of them even though the dealer put nearly 40psi in one and I had to replace them a tad early. Those miles were almost all stop and GO type driving.

While nittos my not be as sticky as some of the other drag radials they probably have the best all around compound. good & pretty decent wear considering what they are.

I suggest ET streets....Just switch them when you go to the track.

Actually, Kumho does indeed make several competition radial tires, IIRC. Ill still agree that the Nitto DRs are the best.

I suppose if you drove to the track in the rain it would be a problem. Or you could keep the ET streets in your car until you get to the track and then put them on............after all, you posted this in response to someone recommending ET streets for track use.
