Anybody got any suggestions on a brand tire that has a pretty long tread life? Considering we they dont get melted often... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I have the bridgestone potenza re730's but they havent lasted all that long.

The longest lasting performance tires I've ever owned were Firestone Firehawk SZ50s. They have a very deep tread pattern and actually hook pretty well. Awesome in rain too.

I've owned 4 sets of them in fact.

It all depends on your driving style and how often you rotate them. The Goodyear GSC that came on my car had 40,000 miles on them before a roofing truck kindly showered the road with nails <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> . They probably would have lasted me close to 45,000 miles. That included about 15 passes at the track for test and tune night. I have since upgraded to 275/40/17 BRG KDW. I only have a few hundred mile on them so i can't comment on there life but they have been a big improvement in traction both wet and dry. Ditto on the Firehawks. Out of all of the tires that I have owned the Firehawks have provided the best grib vs treadlife.

I currently have on a set of Pirelli P7000. They stick like paint, but I'm sure I'll be looking at a new set of tires in 8k

I got 45000 out of my Yokohama AVS sports and they are still going strong!! Really hard driving too.

When I bought my Formula used last October, it came with these crappy Cooper Cobras on them. After over 20k of driving, I've still got a pair of them up front and they don't even look worn down at all! I bet if I kept these tires they'd go 60 or 70k or more no problem. But after winter is over I'm moving the Dunlop SP Sport 5000s I just bought for the back, up to the front to replace those Coopers, then I'll buy another set of sticky tires for the back again (this year I ran Toyo RA-1 racing tires out back, I got about 11k out of them)

The factory-equipped RS-A's lasted me over 76K and that included 50+ passes down the dragstrip and countless triple digit speed fests on the open road....just added GSC's so we'll see what kind of life I get out of them....

I gotta throw my $.02 in here since I work for Bridgestone/Firestone. (and get a 35% discount <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ). Seriously though the Firehawks have been great for me. I've ran them on four vehicles now with no complaints.

I've found that it kinda depends on the rubber compound. The goodyears seem to be very soft, grip and go, but wear down quick. Were as say a Michelin seems to wear forever, but slip and squil like a stuck pig when cornering and launcing. The Bridgestone/Firestones are sort of a happy medium between the two.
