Default Help matching sidewall height.....

Right now I have 285/35/18's (9.5" wheel) in the rear and 245/45/17's (8.5" wheel) in the front. Right now, the front sidewall is a lot higher than the rear. It was so noticeable, the wife even said something about it.I want to keep the 285's in the rear, what size on the front will match sidewall height? Thanks!

Most likely a 245/40/17.

295/35/18 and 275/40/17's match pretty well and 275/40/17 and 245/45/17 have the same size sidewall. So if you have 285/35's you need to go with 245/40's.

275/35-18 and 245/45-17
Plus, they will fit well on the wheel sizes you have.

The math says: 285*35% = 99.75mm
245*45% = 110.25mm

so 245* 40% = 98mm very close

but the front ones are 17 and rear ones are 18... you need to look at overall diameter.

Overall diameter didn't matter to me. What matters is that the front rubber was noticeably thicker than the rear rubber between the rim and the fender.

i dont see why that matters, overall height is more important for driving

if that is the case,
get 245/45-17 and 275/40-18
I would think it's dumm to have a 17/18 combo if you care of the sidewall height and not overall diameter... just get same wheel size on all corners.

Come on guys, I see where he's coming from.

Example: Z06 Vette wheel/tire combo is 265-40-17 Front; and 295/35-18 -rear that makes the aspect ratio/profile the same.

You know GM didn't design the Z06 to have different sidewall heights, but in order to accomodate that design, the overall diameter for the rear tire is taller.

Right. The Corvette is DESIGNED for different overall diameter tires, a Camaro is not, so the excessive OD difference will confuse the ABS computer in a Camaro and cause the brakes to fail in a panic situation . . .

Exactly, you can't just compare sidewall profile if you're running different size rims (17 vs. 18). Check out the "does this fit thread" - there's a couple calculators where you can compare tire diameters.

Well for the record I ran 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 with 275/40/17's and 295/35/18's with no problem on my TA.

Smaller tries on the front will make the abs think the front tires are locking al release the front brakes......You want to guess I how know that .................

I don't understand. There are plenty of guys running staggered set-up's. As long as the overall diameters are close then nothing will happen with your ABS.
