Default Hooking up HP

How much hp can actually be hooked up on the street?

I've got an 11" rim, 315/35/17 tire. I don't care what brand, although we are talking about a daily driver.

How much power can be realistically put to the ground before you lose so much traction that street racing isn't fun anymore? (By fun, I mean you are doing unintentional burnouts while the damn ricer beside you is headed down the road)?

I'm trying to decide just how big I want to build up my 402 stroker.

I think there are too many factors at play here. Tires, pavement, suspension, gear etc. I think gearing will hurt you the most as far as launching. Since gears multiply torque you could run a really tall gear and not loose traction
IMHO, if you have a chasis shop set your car up for streetracing, and put a 315 BFG on it and run stock gears I bet you could get traction up around 500rwhp.

Hmmm. Might have to re-think the 4.10 gears then, huh? Although everyone says that's what to get with an M6.

Anyone else got any input here? I've got LCA relocation brackets, adj. panhard, Spohn Torque arm...... pretty much the works on my 9" rear.

great question, ive noticed traction really becomes a problem in third gear around the 600rwhp mark...800rwhp you start having trouble in 4th gear. i run 315 drag radials all the time. it sucks to have to turn it down.. not that i can acutally get a good street race these days

if i gave up my bling bling vette wheels for some 15" wheels it would probably hook up better.

Yah, I'm thinking about maybe getting a 2nd set of rear wheels, 15" just for those days that the car club goes drag racing.
