Default Why still no traction! HELP!!!

man ive done everything can think of to get more traction ans thus far i cannot cut below a 1.8 60' i would think a 11 wide 555'r on a car with all the things you could do for the rear suspension would get better traction than this... do i need to go with slicks and smaller wheels and if so what effect will this have on handling and the cars abilty to be driven on a weekend basis arround town and on te highway?

Slicks and skinnies (using 15's) are the first and easiest noticeable modification for traction. Less rotational weight (inertia)...you will accelerate quicker as well as decelerate.

They are drag racing items, pretty hard to have a drag race setup and expect it to perform on a road race application.

It's like buying an all season tire, they are never very good in the winter or summer but it is a compromise. You need to figure which way you want to go...either drag race setup or road race setup.

Hope this helps,

Steve

How's the track prep at your track? Do they put down any VHT and clean the line? Front wheel drive cars usually end up making things worse when in front of you because they drag water to the line.

With a completely stock suspension, 3.23's and Vig3200, 275 Nitto DR's, I've pulled a 1.69 60ft time with a full weight car and having the front swaybar intact. On the same day, a number of low 1.7's as well. On a shitty track, even with a 15 second burnout, the best 60ft time I could muster was a 1.86. Track prep makes a huge difference.

if ur bunring them that bad now when you put that 3800 converter in there its gonna be alot worse... I would get some 15x10 prostars and some slicks an donly run them at the track skinnys up front would be good too but the slicks out back is what is really gonna help you hook
