Default 5/16'' spacer.. SAFE??

I put some on my rear Z06 wheels and wanted to hear opinions. It is a tiny bit over 1/4 inch and the wheel went in well and fit over the hub with no problems . The lug nuts are on there pretty good too. I just want to know if you guys think that this is safe.

I'm not sure how deep the lug pockets are, but if it were me I'd put in new wheel studs.

I'm running 1/2" spacers on all four with my z06's. I upgraded to ARP studs though. I tried the 5/16ths with stock studs but didn't feel comfortable doing it. Not enough threads inside the nuts and it looks better with the larger spacer also. I have more threads being used with the 1/2" spacer and ARP studs than I did with stock wheels.

I would do the same if I were you. I have had zero issues and have driven across country. Those ARP studs are very high quality and strong as hell.

Your are right on the border. I ran 5/16" on the back of my SS for quite a while with no issues, but there isn't a whole lot of thread holding on . . .

I would also run better wheel studs and call it good. I run longer/stronger wheel studs and a spacer at the drag strip and on my z06 wheels. It holds 1.4 60's. You will probably be fine with what you have but it will only be better upgrading.

After going back to check my work I noticed that with the 5/16'' spacer the nuts where only on by 3.5 turns. So I just removed the spacers and put on some 2/16'' spacers from an IROC. The wheel sits alot better on the hub now and I feel much safer now.
