How long have your tires lasted?
When I bought my camaro it had 29,000 miles on it and the original goodyears were shot. My car now has 56,000 miles and the Kumho's are just about shot. It seems that I'm not going to get no more than 30,000 out of any set of tires. The kumho's are almost half the cost of the goodyears at tirerack. I think I'll stick with the cheaper tires if they aren't going to last real long. I've seen a couple of other brands at tirerack, sumitomo and Hancook. I've never had any of these so I don't know what to expect. If I could get one thing out of a set of tires it would be wet weather traction. The kumho's seemed to hydroplane easy.
Thanks for any advice, Joe

yeah 30k is about the max i have managed to squeeze out of a set of z rated tires on any of my f-bodies i have had. my stock Eagle F1's went out around 18k with easy driving. kumhos ecsta supras went about 25k under same driving conditions. dunlop sp9000's went about 6k on half tread (on the car when i bought it), bfg comp Ta's only lasted about 15-16k. currently running falken 451's with about 5k on them, they seem to be wearing better than the kumho's, for about the same money, and they look/hook better than the kumhos.

Hmm, let's see....,
Stock 383 RWHP Goodyear F1's 3500 miles
Stock 383 RWHP Toyo T1-S's 8000 miles
Slightly modded 420 RWHP Toyo T1-S's 5000 miles
Pullied 466 RWHP Toyo T1-S's 1500 miles
Pullied 466 RWHP Nitto 555RII's 2000 mile
Pullied 485 RWHP Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials 4000 miles (still at 75% or better tread)
Anymore power and I'll have to run on wrinkle walls.

Wow, how many burn outs are you guys doing every day? Up until the last few months was driving about 170 miles per day (roughly 42,000 per year). Not to mention driving up to the mountains each weekend for snowbaroding from November through April (that 140 each way). I generally purchase two front tires each year and pass my front tires to the back. I used to use GSC until they got discontinued. I've been using Goodyear GSD3's for about 3 years now IIRC. I wouldn't trust my life to any other tires, those things have stuck to the ground during some crazy accident avoiding situations. I do miss the GSC-S (soft compound tires) though

Thanks for the replies. It seems most of you get about the same tire wear I do. My wifes Taurus got almost 50,000 miles out of a set of tires. Its to bad my camaro can't come close to that.

In my car, any use of WOT at any speed results in black marks on the road until I lift. I refrain from doing burnouts on purpose.

Well, my car had GS-D3's when I bought it, not sure how many miles on them but from the look of them, I would say less than 5000. Since then, I have put 20,000 miles on them and they still look like thy have plenty of meat on them (I drive spiritedly too). I got a nail in one of the rears though, so I went ahead and swapped nittos in the back, but the fronts are still going strong. I'd say they're good for about 30k miles of 'spirited' driving.

These are the first tires that I've ever used that after several hours of high speed driving are only 1 or 2 psi higher than their cold temps.
Mine seem to wear evenly. I'll try to take some pics and show you, as well as grab the miles and date of my last tire change.

Thats what the GoodYear dealer inflated them to at every install. They handle great and I get great mileage out of them. Now if I were to go to the drag strip, I'd probably drop the pressure down to 30 or so on the rear, for more grabbing power, but for everyday driving, I'm leaving them at the pressure that the Goodyear guy inflated them to.

I've had my Toyo Proxess 245-50-16's on since I bought the car 2 1/2 years ago. The original owner put them on around 40k or so 4 yrs back, car now has 65k and still has usable tread life. This is also with rotation every 10,000 or so, and keeping accurate pressure weekly @30 front, 28 back. 45 psi is way too high--that is the max pressure on most tires. Look in your drivers side door, 30 psi cold pressure, regardless of tire make. Continuous high speed pressure is still only like 35 I beleive.
Anyways, I am quite impressed with these tires. Never had Toyo's before but these are indestructable. I've ran over 2 glass bottles, New England potholes, etc, and never had any issues. They catch fairly well, wear evenly, handle great in rain and dry, and I definately will consider toyo's again.
Good luck

Im almost at 4k on my MT Radials, and they have ALOT of tread left, My front tires are the factory originals and the car has about 28k on it, and they are almost done, id give them 5k more at the max.
