How much should widen stock SS 17x9 for 315/35/17 and not have a fitment/rubbing problem.

to fit a 315/35/17 tire you should have 11" wide rim, so widen it to 11"

Will the three inches hit the inner fender well?

It might, depending on the backspacing. My 285's were rubbing a bit, so I just used the LFH (little fooking hammer) and massaged the inner fender well a bit....

If they are the zr1 style ss wheel why bother widening them. Just buy some already that wide.

Only the rear hoop can be widened, not the front. It typically runs $200 per rim unless you supply your own donor rims for them to get the extra material from. Then I think the price is around $150, but don't qoute me on that.

Call this place:
http://fixrim.com/index.htm

You will need to send them to their Dallas location.
You could probably go 10.5 or 11". Also keep in mind you will need to space out the rims by using a spacer/adapter.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42614

It will be up to you to make sure everything fits.

No, he didn't. He did not widen them at all. He had the center section cut out and welded into a wider 11" hoop. That is totally different.

This is how it is usually done:

I've never seen anyone cut out the center and use a new hoop. That is very cool.

are my eyes deceiving me or is that also a spacer that is welded into the hub mount to decrease positive offset?

Spacer Yes, welded no. You have to use some type of spacer so that the newly widened rim will put the tire in the center of the wheel well.

theyre not spacers! lol..
theyre "wheel adapters", they bolt on to the factory studs and have their own studs that the wheel bolts on to. i've been running them for a long time with ~400rwhp and no incidents what so ever.
i had a few threads a year or two ago on this, lots of info and pics

No need to bring this up from the dead. A wheel adapter does act as a spacer, it just bolts to the axle and the rim bolts to it. Looks like this.

yea, didnt mean to bring it "from the dead" didnt realize what thread i was posting in until i had already posted.
but sure, it does "space" the wheel out. but when people say 'spacer' most think of a piece of metal placed over the studs on the axle...which isnt always the best idea for strength, etc

Has anyone ever tried to turn stockers into skinnies for the front?
