Default 18" front 17"s in rear!

trying to find a tasteful way to get more/cheaper meat under the back end.

i sold my 18" y2k's. not enough traction and 315 18" dr's are $250 each!

the same tire in 17" is a hundred bux less and should hook up better with the " extra sidewall.

if anyone is rolling like this please post pictures!

I"m running 18 in the front and 20 in the back. I don"t think you would be happy with smaller wheels in the back.

that really didnt help with his question, now did it???
MM - those 17" DR always worked good enough for me, but they might as well be a pizza cutter for you, they will work better, but i have not personaaly seen 18" in front 17" in rear.

front tires would be 275/35/18, rears would be 315/35/17 so the front and back tire diameter will be the same 25.7

front and rear wheels would be 9.5 wide

Just curious. Any particular reason you just don't go 17's all the way around?

17's in the back and 18's in the front would definitely look different. I think i remember seeing a twin turbo Z in GM HighTech with a similar set up, I think they had 16's in the back and 17's in the front. I'll try to find the pic and post it for ya.

You're going to try and put a 315 on a 9.5" wheel?

It may not look too bad. Probably have to see it to get the image in my head..but the $ would make me able to live with them. 315's will be fine on the 9.5" wheel.

Personally feel it is gong to look really stupid, plus a 315 requires a 10" wheel minimum.

I really do not like the 17/18 combo front/rear, so being installed backwards sounds worse.

ur bird looks really good in the photo--why dont u just leave it the way it is and use the tires in ur sig for when u wanna race someone? me personally im about appearance then function. i dont think it would look good with larger in the rear. there have been 2 z's in gmhtp i believe with 17's front and 16's rear and i thought it looked retarded. once again- just my opinion.

im more about function than appearance.. i would leave it alone but i need more traction on the street.. im not talking about racing on these.. just so i can floor it in 4th!

315's fit all day on a 9.5 rim... as i said my last set were 315/30/18's on a 9.5 rim... looked great.

oh yea and the vette wheels are allready sold and off the car

this is the car with the staggered bogarts, 17 front and 16 in back.. and they look bad *** you cant argue.

That's a sweet Camaro. They look good to me. I'm going with 315's once I wear these 275's out.

I personally like the way DJ's car looked with the 17/16" Bogart combo on his SS. Just leave the Prostars on. That is the only way you are going to hook with all that power. Check on ebay regularly for Weld Magnums and Alumastars. I know you said you liked those in one of your other posts and I have seen them go for pretty good prices on ebay.

Very interesting. To be honest it makes way more sense to have larger wheels up front than in the back. The back the extra sidewall helps with traction and in the front the stiff short sidewall... uh... it helps with traction (cornering that is).

Maybe you would be starting a new trend... one that makes sense. I say try it. If you like it who cares about everyone else. I like my 17/18 staggered look, not everyone does.

The stagger on that GMHTP car looks badass. If you're looking to go that route, I say do it. You obviously need to hook more than you need to look great (great meaning what most think looks good as a traditional stagger with larger wheels in the back).

guess im the only one who thinks that larger front wheels dont look right--i would have liked the ss better with a 16 in the front.

Larger front wheels don't look right if the actual diameter of the front wheel is larger than the rear. The way he's talking, his wheels are going to have the same diameter (or larger possibly) in the rear, such as depicted on the car in the GMHTP link.
