new 18" c5 wheels
alright...so i'm thinking about buying a set of 18X9.5 wheels. either c5 z06 chrome, or c6 chrome. question is...is it gonna look decent without lowering it? i've seen a couple comments on here to the tune of "damn, you need to lower that thing!" when someone gets 18's and up put on. i'm really trying to keep the car as stock as possible, and am saving up for a c5, so mods i cant sell later aren't really an option. If anyone has pics of an SS with 18's, stock suspension, that would be greatly appreciated, as well as comments and suggestions. thanks

Here's my Z28 on stock suspension (83k) with C6 18's. I think it would look a bit better just a smidge lower, but I love the way she looks and how she sits now. Bottom line, if you like the look, don't worry about what anybody else says. I think the 18s still fill the wheel well pretty good and it looks great.

Yes, that is for sure! Running on low profile tires is shock enough to the stock suspension, and the extra travel doesn't hurt it. I think I could even go up a size in height (maybe 40 series) to get a bit taller and not feel ALL of the bumps...

putting 18's on a car doesn't make it look any worse. The car sits a tad high with ANY wheel on the front. I am getting the 18 c6's and putting DMS's on the same time. Only a 1.5" drop max....should be sweet. Also adding bilsteins to help out the new lower prof tires.
98ZEE28...are your C6's polished or chrome? Look awesome. I have a white SS and loved seeing your car.

The C6's are polished, 18x9.5 front +56 with 265/35 and 18x10.5 rear +56 285/35. No rubbing issues at all, and from my guess, even lowered 1.5" there should be no clearance issues at all...
I cannot say how much attention these wheels grab...really sets the car off quite nicely...

I just bought the polished ones too. I got a great deal on them even though I would've pref'd chrome. Looking at the 285's on your car, do you think the 295's would fit okay?

I definitely think there is some more room in the wells than the 285 fills out. I have heard other guys running the 315's with the BFH mod, but I think 295 would still fit easily without the BFH. Go to a tire shop and see if they will test fit it for you...my guess is there won't be any issues at all...

yeah, i agree. my 285s stick out only about 1/8" on my rims, and it looks great. I don't think I'd ever go bigger to get extra surface sacrificing for the "bulge" look of the tire.
I would call up a used tire place and pick up a dirt cheap 315 for like twenty bucks (who cares if it even has tread) and then test fit that sucker. That way you know what you're in for. Or, I guess you could just order the 315s and say screw it, and when they show up, bust out that big ol' hammer! It's really up to you, and how much time/energy/trouble you want to put into it. Good luck either way, and let us know how it works out, and try to take pictures, not too many people do!

If you are worried about reselling the car then those are fine and looks good, but if you ever decide to go bigger on the tires get at least 10.5 in rims.
good luck
