Default fixing Polished wheels w/ cloudy finish

I have a WS6 rim and the finish is real cloudy, what can I do to it to regain some of the finish?

If they are factory polished like you said. They are clean coated. If you cant buff out the clear coat. Then there is basicly nothing but remove all the clear coat.I took all the clear coat off my Y2K's and was glad I did.

Would I have to use an air craft stripper if I wanted to do that, polish the hell out of it then seal it with some thing?

The factory polished wheels should have come clear coated, which will dull the appearance some but be much easier to maintain. You can test the surface in a small area with metal polish. If it turns black, you're working on un-coated metal. If not it's clearcoated.

If they are cleared, treat them like the painted surfaces of your car. Depending on how bad they are, try something like Meguiar's ScratchX or a good cleaner/polish followed with a coat or two of your favorite wax.

If they aren't cleared you'll need to do some metal polishing. Do a search for Heavy Metal polish to find some good polishes in varying grades. You shouldn't need to have them refinished unless they are damaged. Metal polishes can take out most oxidization and stains as long as the surface is smooth underneath from previous polishing.

I used the Aircraft Stripper and it made a huge difference without doing anything else. It's amazing how cloudy the clearcoat gets. Of course, I have bare aluminum rims now, but just have to keep them clean and polished every now and then. Be careful with that stuff and take the rims off the car before you use it.
