Default 275/40/17 Tires

I'm soon getting 4 new tires for my SS -00. I have the original 10-spoke rims. I want to hear your opinion on different brands. What tires do you recommend? I'm not into racing, just for ordinary street use.

Go with a good brand name tire, not any cheap *** tire. It will cost more but well worth it.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's...

Best tire hands down...they're softer than my motorcycle racing slicks....And they last..I put well over 25K on my last set and they still had a significant amount of wear in them......the only negative is the cost! $220 is what I paid at Discount tire

Another vote for the D3s. Absolutely love them. Sometimes you can find a deal through one of the online retailers or a local shop.

I agree... I got the GS-D3's on my Z. They're the best tires I've ever purchased for any car I've ever owned by far. I put close to 10k miles on mine and they hardly look worn... seriously.

I think I paid around $203 each from TireRack about a year ago for them.

Ok, I'll check prices on both Goodyear and BFG here in Sweden, seems to be many good comments on the Goodyear.

Since you say you want tires for regular street purposes, I say go with the BFG T/A KDW's. Mine have about 20k miles on them and still have 40% tread left. They're def a good tire for the price if you don't want to spend the extra money for GS-D3's when your main concern isn't hooking at all times.

I've been very impressed with the BFG G-Force KDW tires.

I bought a lot of tires in my day. The KDW are really good street tires.

I also have the BFG kdw they hook preety good for a all season tire but they are way to loud for my tastes. The noise of the road is like 100 times louder than it was with my old tires(continental(sp)) i really can't stand it. I don't think i will be putting these tires on my car again because of it.

OK, thats good info, i don't want a tire that's too loud, I'm planning to use the car on some longer trips. What about the Goodyear Eagle, are they noisy?

The GS-D3s are much quieter than the original F1s that came on my car ('00 SS). I didn't realize how much tire noise I had until I made the change. I haven't turned the radio on for over a year (since I put the GS-D3s on) because I enjoy listening to the car so much more now.

I bought some BFG KDW's about 6-8 months ago for my car too and couldn't be happier. Price wasn't too bad, and it's a pretty good tire.
