295 55r16 Radial T/A's from BF Goodrich
I have a set of 1984 corvette rims that I'd like to use a 295 55r16 tire on. According to BF Goodrich their Radial TA tire can be run on a 9.5 inch wide wheel. Their data says it will be approx. 12.2 inches wide.
My questions are: 1. Would this fit in the rear without rubbing? I believe the wheels are a 38mm offset, but how would one go about measuring the wheel to be sure? 2. If BF Goodrich lists these 295's for use on 9.5" wide tires, why does the sticky up top only go up to 275's? Is that the widest they can be in the front?
Please forgive my general lack of knowledge about wheels, but searching didn't provide me with the answers I needed. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: More searching turned up this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...hlight=295+9.5
But that begs the question...why would BFG say that it is a viable rim width range? Here is the pdf: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/assets/pdf/radial_ta.pdf
The tire I'm looking at is at the very bottom.

Ttt?
How about a comparison?
295/50/16 BFG Radial T/A's vs. 265/70/16 Fireston Firehawk Indy 500 w/uni-T?
The BFG's would go on a 9.5" 84 vette wheel, and the Firehawks would go on my 8.5" stock chrome 5-spokes. Or, is the 30.6" diameter on the firehawks too large to fit inside the fender?
