Default nitto..555r

i hear street tires cant hook up on the street for stalled cars. my car is a daily driver and will never see track. i plan on running 18x10 and 18x9 chrome z06 rims.. would i be good to go with nitto 555r in the rear and 555 up front? or is there another tire that will be safer to drive in all weather conditions and still hook up?

That's what i'm going with, I think its the best for a daily driven/street application with regards to overall tread life and handling as well.

If you don't care about any of that and just want to hook hard though, get the Mickey Thompsons.

You can get up to 10k+ on nitto drags depending on how you drive. I always got just over 10k. They hook really well and give you a fair amount of life (better than about any other drag radial). They are not the best in the rain and are very bad in the rain when they get worn some. You can drive them in the rain but you need to be careful if they are worn. My car is a weekend only car so they are great for me. If your car sees a lot of rain you might want to stay away from them but I always loved mine.

I never had the problem with them picking stuff up in the rain. They did pick up a bunch of little pebbles and stuff and you could hear them hitting the wheel well. I only noticed it at lower speeds (I would say below 40). I think that you will get that with about any drag radial though since they are all made of a softer compund than regular radials.

Why would you want a heavy DR on the front of your RWD car?

You must be talking about the nitto 555's or the 555R II's. The 555R is the nitto drag radial. I have heard of people using the 555R II's for road course stuff but i believe its the same compound as the 555R but with a stiffer sidewall.

Yep. Just looked at the tire 555 ZR. I've got the 315's DR from Nitto on the back.

The regular 555 nitto can last 30K. It's just a regular radial. I have 4 from 2002.

i got nitto 555r on my camaro, and they are about near bald they lasted a good 10-13k, and they did and still do great in the rain! if i try punching it from a 10mph roll in the rain it wont spin them completely it will wheel hop, and other tires just spin, so u can see that theya re trying to hook even in the rain.
