Tire was cut when mounted!

Tire was cut when mounted!
OK guys I need some help here. I got my tires mounted and balanced today and when the guy was mounting the tire, the piece that holds the lip of the tire down on the machine cut into the tire, and what of the tire that was on the rim at that point popped off. It cut in about an 1/8 of an inch in, and about one inch across. The tire was fine after it filled with air and popped onto the rim. Do I need a new tire, or will I be OK? I mounted it on the car and it sits fine, I'm just scared to drive it now that I think about it.
Thanks,
John

you mean it ripped the thick hard rubber bead? if so.. dont worry about it. happens to a lot of small sidewalls/hard rubber( like a swamper) tires. sometimes it will do it on a brand new 70 series tire.

don't sweat it. i can't tell you how many times i've seen that part of the tire ripped when i'm taking tires off of wheels. if you have a problem with it, the problem will show it's ugly face very quickly, within the hour the tire will be flat. a problem will not "develop" cause of this tear.
if your really worried about, fill the tire with about 50psi and spray some spray 9 or fantastic along the bead, if you see any bubbles you have a problem, if not your good to go.

I guess, I'm assuming that is what it was. All I know is it cut into the inside edge of the tire. So if that's what it was, it really wouldn't be hazardous? I've just been thinking and it got me kind of worried, I don't want to be driving at 80 and have the tire blow out.

post a picture, depending on how the bead was ripped and where, you could have some problems that go far beyond the tire going flat.
a tear in the bead in the right location will allow air from inside the tire to force itself in to the sidewall causing a noticable bulge over a short period of time and a significantly weaker sidewall
