Default sumitomo tire owners come in!!!

hey guys, ive done quite a bit of research on the sumitomo tires. essentially all people on ls1tech say they are JUNK. however, whenever i talk to tire experts and people who have been installing tires for years, they say that this tire is a great tire. they just happen to be cheap because their name isnt the most popular out there. i have also read that sumitomo's are a branch name under falken.

those who have sumitomo's .. what model tire is it, and do you like them???
woudl you buy them again???

thanks ...

I have 315's out back and 275's up front. I don't know how long they've lasted or how good they hook new b/c they were on the car when i got it. I'm going to get another set b/c they're the only affordable 315 size tire. I've heard they're not bad when they're new. Mine don't hook at all...its like i have 1000 hp.

I have 275-40-17 Sumitomo HTR Z 2's (not the base HTR Z's), and I am quite happy with them. Really good dry traction, and work well in the corners. I just have to keep track of the tire pressures, as they seem to lose air faster than other tires I have had. I have had other brand name tires (BFG and Goodyear) on my car, and I think the Sumi's are just as good if not better.

I think most of the bashing is on the base HTR Z's (especially the 315's).

If you read the reviews on tirerack, you will see most are happy with HTR Z 2's, and do not think highly of the base HTR Z's.

Just my .02$

I have had the 315s on the rear for only 500mi on a DD. No problems- but I haven't really pushed them yet. They should be about broken in by now. Tme to check them out. Can't beat the price. I only got them because they were the only ones available at the time, cost less than one of the BFGs I was waiting on.

I have the 17 / 315's in the rear, and with ~1500 miles on them, they hook allright. Much better than my 16/245 BFG KDWs were. Ive got a ton of wheelhop with them now. I also hear that as they wear down they dont grip nearly as well. I cant realy comment on wether or not ill buy these again until I see how bad they are near the end of their life. I might just get some nittos at that point.

275/315 here. I'm happy with'em. They're inexpensive, look and ride pretty good.

I will let you know when mine arrive 275/315's, I shopped around as well...you definately can't beat the price if the old budget is tight. $107 for the 315 and $88 for the 275.

I've had mine on for a few hundred miles (275/315). For the $440 (shipped) I paid, I can't complain.
