Default Will 99 Camaro 16"X8" Rims Fit an 85 Firebird?

I am curious b/c my brother has an 85 Firebird that he is building on a budget. I have the 16x8 5 spoke chrome stockers and am deciding whether or not to upgrade to 17x9's.

They should bolt up they have the same bolt pattern, but as for the offset your guess is as good as mine.

Some 3rd gens came with 16x8 stock

What could happen if the offset is wrong? (besides rim sticking out of the wheelwell)

Well, I guess that the best bet will be to test fit them next time I go home. Thanks.
