Default BFG KD vs KDW vs Kumho MX

I am going to buy new tires within the next week. I ony drive my car on dry days so I do not care about wet traction.

BFG KD $241 X 2 + $36 shipping = $518
BFG KDW $216 X 2 + $18 shipping = $450
Kumho MX $180 X 2 + $18 shipping = $378

Is there much of a traction difference between the KD, the KDW's and the MX's? I am looking for a street tire that will hook pretty well. That is my main concern. I am sick of my Run-flats they can't hook for ****. Any recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

IMO, the KD is definately the better tire of those three for dry traction and steering response.

I would not suggest KD's unless your car never sees rain. I had a buddy with those on his fbody and it was like driving on ice with the KD's in the rain. I never drive my car in the rain but my experience with my buddy's KD's was so scary that I decided on the KDW this year when I bought tires. The KD's do stick like glue on dry pavement. My KDW's seem to stick pretty good as well.

My last set of tires were Kuhmo Ecsta's and those tires would break lose all the time. Not exactly sure if they were the MX's or not but they did not stick nearly as well as the KDW's.

I'm currently running the MX tires and they definately hook and handle better than the KDW's that I have ran. Plus on the PowerTour I hit some of the worst rain I have ever driven in and they were excellent tires in the rain. Not scary at all with a 295 wide tire.

Hmmmmmm...I'm running BFG KDWs on my 18" wheels, and they aren't the best for traction on my ride. I just put on some BFG Sports on my daily driver chrome 17" ZR1s, so I'll have to see how those go. Either way, I don't think traction will be the best.

I'm finally driving on my BFG Sports, and to me, they are a damn good tire for the money. Nice ride, not bad on traction (just as good as my 18" KDWs - the flame tread design one)...haven't tried them in the rain yet.

My only complaints on the Kuhmo MX are they are heavy and take a lot of weight to balance them.

I like my KDW's but the KD's although very nice and sticky, howl like a 4x4 knobby tire . . .

Well I decided on the KDs since my car does not see any rain. I got a good deal on them. $241 shipped a peice. I just hope they hook better than my stupid run-flats. If the temp is 65 and below I can not hook at all in 1st gear, with anything over 1/5 throttle. It is retarded. I hop I can go atleast half-throttle with the BFG KDs. I'll find out on monday.

Take a look at the Falken RT-615 too.....its comparable to the MX. I havent been able to put the Falkens too hard yet so I cant compare them in max performance.
