Default can you pull the wheels on 17s or 18s?

has anyone pulled the wheels running 315s on a 17 or 18? just curious.. after looking id kind alike to run a 17/18 combo with like fattest tire out back possible in a drag radial.

just curious if they will hook well enough or if i should go with the weld setup or not..maybe il just get some 15s for the track only.

anyways any info appreciates thanks

I know several people that pull the wheels on a setup like that....it doesnt go high...just a few inches or so...but it goes up none the less.

I have never seen a 17/18 rear pull the wheels! I would love to though! I can get to the top of the suspension real fast with my setup, but dont think I ever pulled the front tires!

At the old ls1.com i posted the same question and had about 6 or 7 pics of guys doing it at the track. What makes it very difficult is the fact that they still have the front 17 inch wheels/tires. Switching to skinnies up front usually knocks of 40+ lbs which makes it much easier to do. Only the driver front tire would barely grab some air but some is enough.

40+lbs is a little exaggerated, considering the stock WS6 17x9 wheels are 20lbs each.

I don't see how it is exaggerated. The wheel is not the only factor in weight. Think how much lighter a skinny tire is compared to the 275/40/17.

Depending on the type of skinny and tire of course. A Bogart with a true front runner and not a radial is super light.

You're only considering the wheel weight, a pair of stock front 275's usually weigh in around 50lbs. Do the math. Or, just look up the weight reduction list

Thanks JGKadell, I posted before I saw your reply. There was a guy at GLD in WI that I spoke to that managed to take over 100lbs off the front end of his fbody without relocating the battery.

Hmm, what year? My '01/'02 WS6 wheels weigh 26lbs. each. The earlier chrome style weigh even more obviously. Ever hold a set of 15/16" Skinnys? They light as ****!

Factor in a 275/40/17 tire mounted, balanced, and filled with air its definately some decent weight.
Anyways, I had some pics saved on my old harddrive. Unfortunately it bit the dust, and I had to start all over with a new one.

It can be done though. Just takes a serious suspension setup with some real sticky DRs.

Yeah that's Ricks car. Photoshop job but cool none the less.

I don't know about pulling tire on 18s. Who makes a DR that bgi anyhow? The shittier BFG G force, and the Nittos. Both aren't sticky enough IMO.

BFG makes a 315/30/18 and a 345 also if you can somehow manage to fit that, lol
