Drag Wheels on street radials - Yay or Nay?

Define daily driven car. I think many folks on the boards are not in agreement of what they feel is "daily driven".
To me a daily driven car is one that typically sees a min of 15,000 miles a year, used everyday to go to work and other typical daily tasks. It is a car that is used as their primary vehicle. This is my definition of a daily driver.
If you use your car on weekends for fun, go to cruises and to the track, I'd far from consider this a "daily driver". You'd be lucky to see 5000 miles on the car a year if this was the case. With the price of gas, our cars are becoming less of a primary vehicle.
Also, define what you consider a "street tire". Do you mean DOT legal or something like a general tire you currently use now? If you are only interested in appearance, then do what you like, who cares what others think.

It is the car that I use to drive to school, work, and other things. My primary and ONLY vehicle. I am wanting a set of draglites or prostars, but I just wanted to see what people thought of these wheels with a plain-jane street tire.

I have used street tires on draglites and prostars. They will look good and you arnt going to even notice what kind of tires it has on it from more than 20 feet away. I agree with not using a 3.5 inch or 4 inch frontrunner on the street thou it could get dangerous in those spur of the moment actions. I would also say to make it worth it put at least a good size nitto drag radial on the back.

I had a 15x3.5" weld pro stars crack on me while driving them on the street. I don't plan on running drag wheels on the street anymore. Running 10 miles down the street with the drag wheels on is usually ok, but driving on the highway isn't a good idea. Your braking abilities will be seriously affected with skinnies. Welds require grinding the calipers or using wheel spacers, I don't like either one.

I think that would be a pretty good idea. You could probably run a 15x6 with the same tire to keep it lookin kind of skinny but still have the bigger front tires for decent handling in the rain and stuff. No matter what weld 15 inch wheel you use it will never be able to corner very good again. I never was a person to corner hard so it wouldnt bother me.

I don't see the benefits of running a large tire and large wheel up front. Handling is going to suffer once you change over to 15" wheels. Not something that I would think a typical primary daily driving car would be fun to use.
...Weight savings overall (one of the reasons of going to drag wheels) is insignificant compared to even the small cost of economy wheels. By the time you're finished, your gonig to spend ~1000.00 on wheels and 800.00 on tires. Weight savings is only going to be ~5lbs/wheel over your stock setup. Granted, that is unsprung weight...but these considerations really do not make sense. You're taking drag wheels and trying to make a normal everday setup out of it.
Change to a road race setup that is light and go with larger diameter wheels so that you have better handlig characteristics...for daily driving fun. If you are doing this for looks then that is fine, but certainly not something to do if you are expecting many of the benefits of a drag setup.

No, I was looking at this for strict aesthetic gains. I understand that the weight will not be that signifigant, but just wanted the looks since I'm not a fan of huge wheels at all.

If you're mainly concerned with appearance, I'd consider our RR wheels. I can build them to 15" in diameter. At least you'd have a very safe very strong wheel that is highly polished and show-quality (and light)...not much different the the prostar setup.
With our setup, you won't have to change your studs OR even the lugs, you can re-use them. With the other wheels, you'll have to change studs and lugs, grind quite a bit and run spacers.
This will cost you more of course, you do get what you pay for.

ive ran 15x3.5 prostars with goodyear front runners, and 15x10s out back with 26x10-15 ET Drags on my daily driver for over a year and ive been fine, you just have to learn to drive the car diffrent, take corners alot slower, give yourself more time for stopping distance, ive never had a problem with it on my 94 camaro, so i say go for it. plus they look mean
