Default Using washers to space wheels?

Is this okay to do. I am only using a couple for the time being so that my rim don't scrape a part of my front steering components. I just put a few grade 8 washers behind the rims on each stud to space the rim just enough to avoid the scraping. Just want to know if this okay to do before I go driving around on them.

I did it for about 20k miles on my 87 Buick Regal. I put the I-Roc rims on it. It was difficult but it worked fine. U would be alot better off with a real spacer but this will work in a pinch. GL man
