Convo Pros 15X10X7.5 BS What's the latest??? Has anyone heard anything more about Centerline making the Convo Pros that will fit our cars without grinding? There were a couple of threads going about a month back but I haven't heard anything recently. I hope these wheels are still in the works. How about it PSJ.

We had the wheel sent to JNorris, he test fitted it a week or so ago. It is rubbing in one spot, maybe John can detail how much. I have a call into Centerline to discuss whether the wheel can be tweaked or not. Didn't look like it rubbed that much but the goal was to find a wheel that did not need any grinding.

PSJ, thank you for your reply. Am I correct this is a 15X10X7.5"BS? If, in fact is only rubbing minimally this is vey positive. Even if this prototype requires a little touch up grinding, then I think we are way ahead of the game, i.e. major grinding with the Prostars and a major rip with the Bogarts. Please keep us informed, I and others need to get wheels sooner rather than later.

I think it measures out to more like 15x9, but John has the wheel. If you look over at wheels.ls1tech.com in the unsorted folder you can see where it was rubbing. It did not rub all the way around either which is another reason I am talking to them about the wheel.

It seems like Centerline is on the right track. Personally I'd like at least another 1/2" in width and another 1/2" in backspace. Looks like grinding would be minimal.

The 15x9 6.5bs wheel will fit as it is but will require minimum caliper grinding.
I did the grinding on my caliper with a flat file so it took me around 1 hour of filing and test fitting to get the wheel to fit without hitting the caliper. With a power grinder it would take no longer than 5 min.

The problem with the wheel is that the inside diameter does not taper out as quickly as the wheels with 5”bs. For example (not real numbers), the wheel with 5”bs measures 14” in diameter 3” back from the back of the mounting hub. The wheel with 6.5”bs only measures 13.75” at the same measuring point. This is why the 5”bs wheels fit without grinding and the 6.5”bs wheels require caliper grinding.
The wheel looks good on the car. It looks just like the 15x7.5 5”bs Convo Pro wheel does but with an additional 1.5” on the inside.
Look at the white Z-28 at the bottom of page 1 and on page 2 for a picture comparison of the 7.5” vs the 8.5” wheels.

I talked to the sales manager at Centerline. He is going to show engineering the pictures and see if they can tweak the design so they won't hit. I told him that folks would buy the wheel as it sits, but he said they would really check out what they can do. Big thanks to John Norris for all this legwork, I'll make sure John gets taken care of here...

Well we need to thank Nicole @ Centerline (daughter of the founder) and John Norris (our moderator) for taking the time to first root through their parts bin and create the wheel, and for John for first taking all the pics of the other sizes, and then taking all this time to document how this prototype wheel fits.
John, they asked whether a wide wheel is feasible. Did you check, is that one we got you a 15x9 exactly? I told them that 15x9.5-15x10 would be great but to just let us know what is feasible.

If we go with a wider wheel the additional width will have to be added to the inside of the wheel so it will not stick out. For example a 15x9.5 will have to have 7” of backspace and the 15x10 will 7.5” of backspace. Changing the backspace might require more caliper grinding for the wheel to fit.
On the Convo Pro wheels I have measured it seems that the more backspace the wheel has the smaller the inside diameter is at the 2.75-3.25 point measured off the rear of the center hub of the wheel which is where the caliper will hit.

It sure would be great if they could make at least a 15X9.5X7BS, because MT and M&H spec a 10" wheel for their 26/11.5 and 28/12.5 cheater slicks and slicks. You can go a little narrower if necessary, but in this case the wider the better.
