Default BFG Drag Radial owners...

Allright I was going with the Nitto's but was talked into the BFG's, am I going to regret that purchase for a DD Z-28? How well do they handle? Treadlife? Yes I know they are a drag tire but damn, spending $1200.00 on a set of decent street tires seems a little much for me. I ordered them today from Summit so they should be here by Wednesday, 315-35/17's and BFG G-force T/A's up front in a 275-40/17. Thoughts?

first off what rim size are you running? ive run Nitto dr's and BFG dr's, both 315/35/17's. The BFG's grip EXTREMELY well, but only lasted roughly 8 to 10k without ever doing any burnouts or track time. Nitto's usually lasted 13-15k. if ur running a 17x9.5 or 17x10 rim, the BFG's will scrape the inner fenderwell during even semi-spirited cornering. the Nitto's, are technically a smaller tire even though there both 315/35/17's, didnt ever scrape at any time. I daily drove on all my drag radials and there really not too bad to cruise on, handling wise they dont feel as confident as a hard sidewall tire, but there not too bad.

Yeah drive slow in the rain for sure they grip well but they don't last too long but worth the money imo

I have the 315/35/17 and they are really scarry in the rain. The nittos are a little better in the rain but once they get worn down the get just as bad as the bfgs. my bfgs hook awesome for the street, so i think you made the right choice.

My experience...
3-7K on my BFG's - Super Sticky - undrivable in the rain! (stopping especially)
10-15K on the Nittos - Not as sticky - decent for the first 5K or so in the rain.
DD = Nittos

drag radials are a horrible choice for DD. I haven them and have gone to the track 2 times and I can see the thread melting away. Even driving from the track and back are taking their toll.

ya, but the bfg's are so much wider then the nittos. thats why i went with the bfg's. they look MUCH better then the nittos bc of their width.

I've got 17x11 TT2's out back and 9.5's up front. I hope I won't have any rubbing issues, my car hasn't been lowered so maybe I'll be lucky. I'm not going to drive the car as much with these tires so hopefully they'll last a little while. What kind of lowering springs are you guys running with the 315's? I've got an adjustable Panhard bar on order but didn't really know which springs to buy. I sure don't want my car looking like a 4 wheel drive. Thanks for the help

I got QA1 coil overs up front and did the spring mod in the back for the 12 bolt. About 1" lower than stock. I ran the 315's out back without any issues.

The BFG's hook great on nthe street and strip. Handling is not as confident as a regular radial. The feel a little squishy. As far as nittos, I have no experience with them. Also my car does not see any rain so I can not comment on that either.

The only thing I didnt like about my BFGs is the tread depth. No wonder these things dont last for **** because they come with hardly any tread depth to begin with. I was a little dissapointed with that.... and not to mention they still blow off on the street, not REALLY bad but I guess I was expecting a little more. Especially for a 315.

I have the nitto's and I drive about a 100 miles a day and ive had them on for over a month now. They show no wear at all yet and Ive had my fair share of burn outs on them too. I think there awesome for a DD

Good God, you are making some serious HP though! I'm making somewhere around 320 - 330 RWHP just guessing so it should hook. Although on the stock sized 245's I can burn the tires off anytime I want too, it's fun but gets expensive! I'm going to see how these BFG's handle on some switchback curves at the Dragon at Deals Gap this weekend, that's if they don't rub though.

When the BFG's are cold, they will spin rather easily, but a little heat and the stuck like glue when I had 330RWHP???

If you wanted tread depth, you shouldn't have bought a drag radial That's the whole point, they come with the minimum tread depth.

Man you just lost me there! I ain't too worried about tread depth as the car is going to be driven on pretty days only. I've got an 05 GTP Grand Prix to drive in the rain. I'm guessing all my car makes is 320 or 330 RWHP, I've got all the bolt ons, exhaust, LS6 intake, CAI, MSD wires, LS1 edit tune, etc.. I need a dyno run to see what she's making though, it's fast as hell for a Automatic camaro. I've got a buddy with a 99 model electric green cobra and my Z-28 will pull him pretty darn hard when I can get traction!! Thus the reason I'm going with a DR. Thanks for the help, I'll post my opinion when they get here this week and let ya'll know what I think about them. I'll post pics too, thanks again!

BUT 315bfg dr's are WIDER then 315 nitto dr's. just bc they say the same size. does not mean they are the same size.
315 nittos are skinny as hell and look like ****.
