Default Those of you with polished wheels who DD their cars come in!

Alright, those of you guys who DD their cars with polished wheels how are you handling up? I have set of polished wheels coming in sometime and I DD my car, I'm planning on using ZoopSeal on them to try to keep them nice but will this help? What do you do to keep yours clean? Any tips? Any input is appreciated!

Default Polished Wheels on a DD

I myself do not have polished wheels on my DD, but I know a few guys who did and sold them after a few months and went with chrome or powdercoated wheels instead because the maintenance factor was too high

I daily drive on polished TTIIs, and have not problem with maintenance. I polish them every few weeks with mothers and wash them weekly(as well as the rest of the car) with Zaino car wash.

If you paint the centers than you can't really polish the lips as you might take the paint off. What would you do then?

I was thinking painting the centers and then covering the whole rim in a clear coat. Is there any good way to do that?

I use Blue Magic cream, $5 in any Autozone. Not exactly sure if it should be used on wheels but it definetly makes mine shine. At least worth looking into.

I have thought about that as well.

FWIW - Do NOT take it through a car wash where they apply wheel cleaner. I do that and my centers are whitish now. The sides (lips?) polish to a nice shine but the center spokes do not.

I know it will sound a little excessive, but if you clean your wheels with windex in between washes, you will have a lot less work ahead of you. I take my wheels off at least once a month and clean them inside and out. After washing them, I throw a coat of wax on to keep them slippery so the brake dust doesn't adhere easily. Those steps have worked well for me in the past.

I agree with the steps in the above post, and I use Zaino as the wax. It's really a love affair, I have to clean them once a week.

My TTII's were not cleared and I think most of ARE's rims are raw as well.

Mother Billet or Eagle One Nano, once every other week or when they get hazed. Do NOT use any spray on wheel cleaner, they are all garbage and will just cause you more work later on. Also dont use auto carwashes that have the wheel cleaner again, it hazes them. Just reg soap and water and they clean right up.

Thanks for the info guys, any kind of sealers you use like Zoop seal? I just spend $2400 on wheels so theres no way I'm ditching them because they are polished! What about the Mothers Ball, is that a good idea with say Mother Billet Polish, or no?

The smaller ball is good. Just don't let them get too hazy or they will need more than a touch up.

The Power Ball is awesome from what I've HEARD. I've never used it, but I would if I had solid polished wheels. Mine are painted in the center, so Zaino does my wheels just fine.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I got some TT2's that are going on my car in about a week and I know there is going to be some upkeep. Im plannng on getting a powerball and using Mothers Aluminum polish and polishing them quite often. My biggest question is what should I use to clean them in between polishes??

Windex or any window cleaner. Be sure the wheels are cold when you apply it.

Oh, my bad, the wheels are Boyd Coddington Rebels, 17x9 and 17x11's with 275/40 and 315/35 GS-D3's. Heres a link to them on Boyd's site: Rebels. Here they are on an SS with Nitto 315's (have yet to find them on a TA at all)

You guys think they'll look good on the car?

EDIT: Is Windex safe to use on a polished wheel??? I thought not because of the amonia. What about windex on a clear coated wheel since we're on the subject?
