tire life for et drags

tire life for et drags might have to make a 300 mile round trip to get my heads installed and the car tuned... do you guys think my brand new et drags would get wasted or what? i was gonna keep the MT's on cause i thought it be easier to tune the car with traction....
but i could always buy some open ended acorn lugnuts to work with stock wheels and 3" arp studs and drive it there on street tires
