Default Drag Radial + Snow = Bad

So I was driving out of town and it was just a winter mix the typical snow/water but mostly water...So I'm behind a truck doing about 55 mph..I move to the left to pass him and I hit a patch of snow and I lost it I mean seriously I was going sideways at 55..I wasn't even accelerating or anything...Thank God I'd watched tokyo drift or I woulda died....Soooo if you are going to go driving and a snow storm hits...You're pretty much F*cked...

Nitto Dr's + Winter = FTL

I'm so buying a honda winter beater now

I would not even attempt to run a drag tire of any sort in the snow. They are meant for one thing...dry pavement. Good job on saving it. Your honda idea is not a bad idea, but you could also just change to a more winter friendly tire and get around that way. There are alot of good performance tires out there that can handle a wee bit o snow and ice. My Pirelli's are a good one for example...all season rated.

Unfortunately its easier to buy a Honda for beater, and even cheaper sometimes

That's why Thanksgiving weekend, the Nittos came off and KDWS went on. I was thankful, because a couple of weeks later we got six inches. When spring arrives, it'll be a fresh pair of Nittos, or some GSD3's, or some other sticky street tire.

I get around just fine in the winter time in my beater V6 camaro. At least I am not embarrassed driving a honda. Tires make all the difference in winter time road conditions. This will be my 9th winter driving my V6 in the winter...never any problems.

Glad you're okay and that you saved the car.
