17x11" street tires, limited selection??
I've got new wheels comin in for my bird this christmas so I've been lookin for tires and from the looks of it, my only street tire choices are Goodyear, BF Goodrich, & Sumitomo. Sumitomo are only $107 a piece so I can't see spending almost $300 a piece for the other brands. My car is a daily driver so I don't see nitto 555r's workin out too well for me. Am I missing something or is the sumitomo the only affordable street tire out there?

Tire Rack lists a choice of 13 . . .

Granted there are not many to choose, but then again there are not that many cars that run 315's

the Sumitomo's aren't horrible, but mine don't hook up as well as the Mastercraft 275's that i got rid of. i can take off easy in 1st, go WOT, and they break loose about 3500 or so...the Mastercrafts wouldn't do that. for the price, they're really hard to beat, i'll probably buy another set when i wear these out, as they go pretty good with my KDW fronts

I have witnessed a VERY short life out of the Summitomo's. The treadwear rating on them seems to be misleading. They are not worth the ~$100 in my opinion. Take it for what it is worth, but I took this info and bought GS D3's for the back of mine. Money well spent as far as I am concerned. I have seen the Summitomo's die in as little as 8k miles. It was from very hard driving, not smokey burnouts or anything. Pathetic in my mind. I currently have about 6k miles on my GS D3's and they show basically zero wear. This was with several trips to the drag strip this year also. Keep in mind these are an extremely stiff wall tire to help cornerning and sometimes the ride gets a little rough, but they are still better than the Summitomo's if I may say so.

How are your GSD3s lasting longer than your sumitomos? That's the complete opposite of what I've seen on my brother's car.
And I just got 17x11s for the back of my car and I would love to have the matching 315 BFG KDs on the back but I can get 2 Sumitomos and have them mounted for the price of just one BFG KD.

I noticed Nitto makes the 555 series in a 285/40/17
I guess it would fit on a 17x10.5 but it still probably doesn't come close to a 315/35/17 (which they dont make! WHY!!!)
Right now I'm trying to decide between the Sumitomos or just sayin **** it and get some bfgoodrich g-force KD's

it really is a nice footprint, isn't it!
