Default Would a 2000 Convertible SS with chrome wheel option have 16x8 or 9" wide wheels????

I'm still trying to decide on wheels and I'm curious if there are chrome ZR1 style wheels out there in not just the 16x8 size that I've seen being reproduced, but also possibly a 16x9????

Any help very appreciated...........

Just to clarify, my understanding is the convertibles did not have 17" dia. wheels but rather 16" so I'm curious about chrome ZR1's in a 16x9 size.

My 2000 SS vert had 17x9 ten spoke wheels. I don't know who gave you the information on the verts not having 17" wheels, but that information is wrong.

I know for certain the the 1997 Convertible SS had 16" wheels and I beleve that went away in 1998.

Never heard of a 16" x 9" wheel, only 16" x 8"

yeah, i was wondering about that, cause about 2 weeks a ago i saw a camaro with SS hood, badges, spoiler, and exhaust but had regular snowflakes, not even the chrome ones like mine. Could they be bought that way? It was a 98-02 model.

OK, thanks guys. I thought I'd read reference to 16x9's when google searching. Maybe it was a typo.

Thank you for the clarrification.

I am confused. What wheels are on the car now? But anyways, yeah, you can buy 17 x 9" chrome ZR1 wheels from SLP. Most of the replicas are 17 x 9.5" and they both fit just fine. tomzwheels is a sponsor here and he sells them

Let me clarify. I don't own a convertible, wish I did but I don't. I simply have been looking into wheels that would allow for a tire with a taller sidewall. Hence the interest in 16" wheels. I had spotted the reproduction 16x8 ZR1 style wheels and also had spotted reference to the convertibles coming with a 16" diameter wheel, but 9"s wide. So, I put two and two together and thought that if it where a 2000 SS convertible with the chrome wheel option then it would have a 16x9 chrome ZR1 type wheel.

I have a 2000 SS M6 T-Top car and want much much better traction from a stop, but was simply looking into options over running 15" wheels and liked the possible option of a wheel that looked like the OEM wheels my car originally came with (chrome ZR1 style) but smaller diameter for a taller sidewalled tire.

Yeah, I have seen the 16 x 8 ZR1 style wheels, but never seen those in chrome. I'd just stick with your stock wheels and throw some BFG drag radials on there. Never heard of 16 x 9" ZR1 style wheels though.

I would stay with the stockers if I had them. I recently acquired my SS and the original wheels are MIA. It has C5 thin spokes installed and while they look OK they don't fit right. Plus, I've always been more interested in 1320 performance than corners. Now, I do tend to like sleepers so.........hence my interest in what would at first glance appear to be correct type wheels for my car.

My car needs tires soon so I'm under some pressure to make some decisions.

Well then.... get some 17 x 9.5 and 17 x 11's, put some BFG DR's on the back of those bad boys, get yourself some LCA's if you don't have them yet, and get a torque arm, and you should have some pretty good traction!

How good would the traction be from a stop? I thought guys with the M6 still have horrible traction down low with any of the tires on a 17" rim due to the shorter sidewall.

Thanks for the input/help. I appreciate it........

And currently the car is stock SS suspension. Haven't gotten there quite yet. Close, but just not quite yet.
