I'm looking at getting some rims and was thinking 17x11 for the rear at first. I was thinking of putting Nitto 315 555r's on them to make it decent for the track and decent for the street.

The problem is that the Nittos seem to run so small that the edge of the rim on 11" rims sticks out past the tire. So then I thought how about running 17x10.5's out back? That might limit my choices if I ever want to change tire brands down the road...or would it?

I want it to look good, but I also want the tire/wheel combo to not weigh too much, and getting traction is important as well.

Input on tire brands? Wheel size I should go with? Tire size I should go with?

you have gotta kinda narrow down what you're looking for. any 17x11 rim and 315 tire is going to be fairly heavy compared to say a 17x9 275 combo, thats just the way it is. while the 17x11 and 315s look good they really do not improve traction much over a 275. when it comes to traction the taller the sidewall the better, so a 315/35 /17 may not be the best option for traction. and a 10.5 wide rim will not limit your options as far as 315's. the 17x11 315 will look great but a 15 or 16 inch wheel with a tall sidewall and sticky tire compound will be best for traction. good luck.
