Default Which tires for my 16x8 cookie-cutters?

I needed some help on a tire choice for my car's setup. I did do a search and I think I may go with either a M/T ET Street Radial P255/50R16 or a 27X10.50 ET Street..which one in everyone's experience would hook better for a 3600 stall'd and cammed LS1? I really wanted to save up and go for Weld Prostars 15x10s and skinnies up front but that would be quite an expense for me since I don't go to the track that often. However wouldn't I need wider tires to get my car to hook up? I read up on a thread somewhere that 16x8s wouldn't be enough for traction, especially on a car setup like mine. Any thoughts/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I have the cash in hand and I just got my car back from the shop and wanna get some times!!

Or any suggestions on a better tire? Hoosiers? BFG DRs? I really want something thats driveable on the street that way I can just mount up the tires at home on track day, make the 10 mile trip over there and back, rather than mounting them at the track. Then slap on the TTMs after track day .

my DR's work really well, I pretty much dead hook, but im guessing they would also work for you. The et street slick is a wrinkle wall, and since your an auto its not quite as necessary...

Cool man, glad they worked for you. Yeah I just the ET Street tire has a wrinkle wall and would be more suitable for an M6, so I may just get the ET Street Radials Where did you get them and how much did you pay?
