Default 215's on 16x8 wheel?

I am wanting to make a set of wheels/tires to put on the car when I go to the track so that I dont have to run my Evos. I have mt et drag radials for the back, so Im working on the fronts now. Can I run a 215 60/16 tire on the 16x8in stock wheel? Tire rack claims that size is for a 6.5-7.5in wheel. Will it work? I am wanting as skinny of a tire on the front without going to front runners since I dont have the money for those.

Mind you, it's only my $002 worth, but I think you should be OK. My wife's DD is a Lincoln LS, and her summer tires are Falken 215-60-16s on 7.5" rims. The sidewalls are nowhere near being "stretched out" to seat on the rims.

You could check different brands of tires, as each manufacturer has it's own specs.....

^^^^ What he said. But, if you want to be really safe, just go with a 225/55 16 in a high treadwear rating (harder compound, less rolling resistance).

Honestly, the difference in weight on a 215/60/16 compared to the 245/50/16 that is used stock on those wheels, in miniscule to the point that you would never tell a difference. And mind you, if it's looks you want, 30 millimeters is not that much of a difference (about 1" in difference). So why not get what fits the tire perfectly?

Because he said he wanted the reduced rolling resistance of the narrower and taller tire.....
