Default Prostar backspacing - question

I have some 15x10 5.5" BS Prostars. I know for 15x10 the usual is to go 7.5" BS. Besides the wheels sticking out more on the 5.5" BS, whats the difference? I'm trying to figure out if I can run the 5.5" BS ones or not. I am about stock ride height. Would there be any difference in how much the calipers need to be grinded down? I have already ground mine down some and there is a lot left to go for it to clear, we stuck in 1/2" worth of wheel spacers and it barely clears with it already ground down alot. I am not gonna run wheel spacers in the rear but that's a lot of material to cut out. Anyone got pictures of how much it took you?

On the T/A with 5.5" BS they'll stick out about an inch. If it were a Camaro, they'd stick out about 2". Yea on the rear you just have to keep grinding and checking to see if they fit. I'll see if I can find a pic of another members calipers I had saved.

Heres one I had saved, but I had to take a little more off to fit my 15x10s with 6.5" BS.

I don't think I had those little "D" shaped spots left after I was done grinding.

And your brakes still work? lol
I don't suppose you have a picture of the inside of your rim, what I want to know is like on the inside of the wheel there is a slight hump or curve right before the face of the wheel, that's what is hitting my caliper. I want to know if the 7.5" BS has that hump or not. I would assume it does, I think the 5.5" BS will just stick my wheel out more, fitment as far as getting the wheel on shouldn't be affected.

Yea, the wheels are gonna be the same, it'll still be the same deal getting them to fit. That curve of the inside of the rim is what you'll have to clearance for.

I grinded, then shot some paint on my calipers, then put the wheel back on and rotated them. The wheel will remove the paint in the spots where it rubs. Then do the process all over again.
