Buying new tires?
Tires:
I've read hundreds of threads on various websites as well as reviews of tire comparisions... Opinions are all over the place so I wanted to get some real world honesty from fellow owners. I'm sure many of you have tried some if not all these tires. The Factory tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 275/40/ZR17) were pretty good for what they are, treadware was what I expected 15,000. Wet handling was excellent, dry handling was only marginally fair...
(Note: The car doesn't go to the track nor does it see much rain, and never snow or cold weather, nothing below 32 degrees. Let me also mention the car rarely exceeds 3000 miles a year.. So, I'm not too concerned about tire longevity but also not wanting a tire that needs to be replaced with ever oil change either. Needless to say I'm looking for something that will come close to a street/strip/autocross tire. I'd like to be able to rotate the tires but I realise that may not be possible? Nevertheless, if need be I may have to compromise some such as DRG radials on the back and an autocross style on the front?)
I'm looking for something much better than the Factory tires not necessairly just straight line performance, but also can handle the curves too if that's possible? The main thing is they need to stick in dry weather driving!
Been looking at:
BFG g-force T/A KD
BFG g-force T/A KDW
Nitto 555
Nitto 555RII
I've also reviewed:
BFG g-force T/A drag radial
Ruled out any Hoosiers or MT's. Both seem to make top notch tires but not really a practical tire for what I need.
Any suggestions?

Goodyear GS-D3.
Much better than stock and first place in CR and motortrend/tirerack overall ratings. I love mine for a daily driver. They don't have a weakness except snowand cold of course. Check out tirerack reviews and the tire test catagories.
The other tires you mentioned are very good in many areas as well.

Wow this is much harder decision than I anticipated...
I really don't care too much about the wet traction ability nor the longevity of the tire. If they can last 6000-10000 miles I'll be content. The car is not a daily driver so that should last me at least two years of driving... I know these Factory tires (Goodyears) are crap for dry traction. But I don't want a tire so thin like the M/T & Hoosiers that a thumb tack will cause a flat.
Does the BFG g-force KD T/A utilize the "R" compound like some of the Nitto's and BFG Drag radials?

From what I read at tirerack years back, the bubble problem was only with one VW OEM tire w/ very low profile sidewall. May be an under inflation issue??

So tell me what's the average tread depth on a regular tire?
Most of the performance tires especially the autocross/drag tires start at 6/32 depth...

So, from what I've learned 11/32 is the average tread depth on a regular street tire.
This tire decision is a lot more difficult than I orginally anticipated. Opinions are all over the place, which isn't much help.
Seeing how on average the car is never driven more than 2,250 miles annually. I see no point in getting some kind of regular street tire. The car isn't driven in the rain and cold weather is practically non exsistant here in Florida.
I just know I have been disappointed greatly in the factory OEM Goodyears eagles that came on the car. They do alright for what they are but if you give the car any kind of power you might as well be riding on butter.
Never really cared fo mis-match tire combo's kind of ruins the look of the car. However, I may have little choice if I want it to perform better. I've considered the following:
Nitto 555RII (All four corners)
Nitto 555RII (Up front) & Nitto 555R (on the rear)
BFG g-force T/A KD (all four corners)
BFG g-force T/A KD (Up front) & BFG G-force Drag radials (on the rear)
Nitto 555RII or BFG g-force T/A KD (Up Front) & MT ET Streets (On The rear)
Any suggestions?
