check out my sig pic. I painted these myself. Used Duplicolor self etching primer cause they are aluminum rims, then their metallic bronze wheel coating. They make it in several different colors and you can pick them up at most auto stores. PM me if you have any questions

Yes, you can do it yourself, but you really have to do a good job of prepping the painted surface... (de-greasing, sanding, priming)...

Wheels have to take a lot of abuse from rock chips etc. So you may have to re-paint them every year. (or at least touch up.)

I've painted several sets with good success, but they do take a little more maintenance than powder coating...

(P.S. Stay away from pressure washers!).....

lots of careful taping

sanded, cleaned, sanded, cleaned

primed, sanded, primed, sanded, primed, cleaned

gloss black several times

clear several times

done. Pay special attention to inside of lug holes so they get nice and coated. Don't want them scratching in there later.

yes I did my wheels with a wheel paint(basecoat/clearcoat) that I bought at autozone. The paint has held up really nicely through everyday street driving and track driving.I would post a pic for ya but these damn government computers wont let me on photobucket.

I had the tires off the rims when I painted mine. As I said before I used duplicolor paint and primer. Check out their site for detailed instructions on how to use the products. I love the results I got. By the way I painted the front of the rims bronze metallic and painted the inside barrel semi gloss black.
The most important part is the prep work. Make sure the surface is compleatly clean. Use some kind of wax, oil, and grease cleaner and a tack rag.
