Any time that you are driving on a stock 10bolt, especially the M6 guys, you are on borrowed time. its only a matter of time before it breaks. i broke one at the track on street tires, i broke one on the street with drag radials.

It was over 90 degrees out when I downshifted from fifth to third going 45 mph and DAMN it was not what I am used to in the cold. The back tires hooked, hopped, and my cell phone bounced out my cup holder. I am curious and somewhat worried.

Im not familiar with rear ends or understand how they fail. Will it all happen at once or will it show progressive wear overtime?

I think you would expect that when your mod list in your sig is longer than list of repairs on my last Mustang...

I ran my old auto Z28 at the track with slicks and sprayed a 150 shot on E.T. Streets and I never had any problems with the 10 bolt. Oh yeah I was running a ring gear spacer also.

This happened to me after two days of DR's. Never dropped the clutch, only shifted from first to second hard once and this happened...

How did you go about doing this? Do you just put it in 3rd and pop the clutch without matching the rpms?? Thats going to be hard on a lot of the driveline...Usually when you downshift you throw it a quick rev try to match the RPMs for the selected gear/speed. Makes it much smoother, and its easier on everything.

yea i poped the clutch and "got on it". I will try to match the RPM's for here on out after that. The low trac light came on to. I think i just waited to long to give it gas

It runs fine and quietly so i assume its fine. Car has 12K Mi on it.

Yeah i would start doing it so you don't break nothing especially on your nice low mileage 02. I did something like that once, except i put it in 1st at the top of second. I only let the clutch out for a split second, but it did what you mentioned, rear hopped around a little. Im lucky i didn't break nothing there, and/or bend a pushrod or two!

Hey that looks like my first stock 10-bolt but I did mine on street tires that were pretty bald.
