If you are wondering. I used engine enamel with ceramic at first and I was like WTF!! the cermaic gives the paint job a rough not glossy look(even in gloss black). So i paint thinned the wheel, reprimed it, and swapped the engine enamel for duplicolor acrylic enamel. DO NOT USE ENGINE ENAMEL FOR THIS! I then primed twice, coating the wheel in the acyrlic paint three times. Then I tried clear...but it took away the gloss so I added more paint and ignored the clear, as the can of the paint says it resists chipping fading, and peeling anyways. I just coated plenty times. I also sanded with 320 grit before this. here are some of the steps.

Engine enamel: YUK!

After sanding:

After priming:

After gloss acrylic

As you can see the problem was in the taping...i didnt tape them right so the spoke was not painted till the end...oh well.. at least they are all even.

My materialsignore the engine enamel!!! and clear, and 400 grit sand paper)

why didn't you use the duplicolor wheel coating? i used that on my old wheels a while back, and it came out really nice. your second attempt looks good though, much better than the engine enamel

I don't know why the engine enamel did that on your wheels! It didn't do that on mine. I used the same exact kind as you have there too and it looked glossy from the start, I just cleared over them as added protection.

BTW I told you taping them off was a bitch.

Yea they look good none the less but like I said the lines were a bitch weren't they? Especially when your a perfectionist like me and you. If I had to guess how long they would last I'd say it depends on how good you prepped them, how you take care of them, and how you drive with them. Avoid gravel, dirt roads that will throw up rocks and stuff, wash with a soft cloth that won't scratch them, and don't burn out with them because that throws up everything!

sounds great..im just scared that soap and water will run out the paint...or at the ends it will start peeling...

and yeah i was pissed with the lining. Well i sanded them pretty good, and primed them twice once heavily. And i put lots of coats of paint as well. 1 can for each pair... and well here is a close up...im ashamed....be tender
