Default Green orings on valve stems after tire change?

I got my tires changed at belle tire and they put some green orings on my valve springs. I am wondering what these are for. They look retarded, i am going to take them off but ... Is it just to signify that they have nitrogen or something?

You mean they put green caps on your valve stems? Then yes, it means they were filled with nitrogen.

What are the benefits of filling your tires with nitrogen? Never heard of this before.

Nitrogen is more stable than air, so it does not expand and contract as much during temp changes. Stays cooler from what I recall. Doesn't "leak" as easily as air.

Someone should fill their tires with helium. Then they'd be lighter, giving you less unsprung weight .

You're right about the nitrogen. In addition to being more stable during the range of temperatures tires operate in, and leaking less, it is also not going to oxidize the inside of your wheel.
