17x10.5" rim, can I run less than a 315?

17x10.5" rim, can I run less than a 315? I am most likely getting the staggered 17x9 and 17x10.5 Torq Thrust M wheels in anthracite for my silver 02 Z....I really don't wanna beat the hell out of wheel wells, shave bump stops, etc...can I put a smaller tire on a 10.5" rim or will it look retarded? I was thinking like a 295 or so...

I just put F1's 315's on my boyd's JYD's 10" plenty of room there. You should have no prob.
