It won't work. Plain as that. How the hell do you plan to shove the huge tire on the little wheel anyway?

Well for starters the tire is wider than the rim....

I understand this, im trying to argue a point with someone else who says hes running 325's on an 8" rim for years with no problems...

Ask him for a picture, then post it. I've never seen it done before and could use some entertainment.

shoehorning a 325 onto an 8 inch rim would balloon the tire out soo much if you did get it to hold air and seal around the rim it would destroy the tread. it i simply to wide to fit.

It also makes a difference on the sidewall height.
For instance, this someone whom you are refering to COULD run a 315/75/16(translation: 35x12.5x16) on an 8in wheel if it is a truck or an off-road type tire. I, personally have been running this configuration(as have most wheelers) for many, many years. It gives you a good bulging sidewall and when you air down can give you extra holding power to the bead. The rule of thumb on this type of tire is 4 in difference between the wheel width and the tire width....
BUT...if you are talking a low profile tire....275/40/17, like we would run on our cars, then absolutely not....the tread surface is too close to the beads, not allowing enough flex, or distortion to maintain and safely seal a bead.
Hope that helps...

I was in a car show last yr and i saw some tool w/ a 315 tire mounted on a standard C5 Corvette rim (the stock tire was a 275), it looked ridiculous, not to mention completely unsafe. it made me wonder 1) what the tool who owned the car was thinking 2) what the tool who installed in on the car was thinking 3) how the tool who owned the car could possibly think it was ok. the tire bulged out so far it made it look like it was flat....

Now mind you; that was a 9.5" rim; i dont' even see how the hell you could even get a 315 series tire to even seal on an 8" rim...

I put 315 BFG drag radials on my stock GTO rims and I would never do it again. The tires lasted 3 months and maybe 1000 miles. It is extremely hard on the tires and any amount of side impact could possibly dislodge the tire from its seat and cause a blowout or even cause the tire to come off the rim. It also looks absolutely Retarded. It doesn't give you and more traction because the tire is caused to balloon out so much in the center due to it being wider than the wheel. It might look cool from behind the car, but from the side its ugly. I'd say a 275 on an 8" rim with our cars is about as wide as I would ever recommend going. The tires are too stiff and have to low of a profile to serve their purpose past that width.

I could see a 325 on a 15" wheel, but never a low profile tire. It would be impossible. A 315 would be a stretch, and it would look like ****. I wish I had something more informative to add.

and no body bothers to read the thread before replying huh?

I know it doesn't fit but "plain and simple" doesn't do it for me. thanks for nothing though.

^ That's the nitto version of the tire. We all know nittos run narrow. Tell him to throw a real man's 325/50/15 on there and see what happens. AKA one of these:

Sure he can run a 325 tire on a 8" rim..

Same goes for a person that wears a size 9 shoe can obviously wear a size 14 shoe, but how smart would that be?

See my point?

I think a lot of guys (myself included) didnt realize you were refering to a 15" rim and said, "hell no. not possible. etc..". Also, the narrower Nitto helps out a little.
