Default Drag wheel noob help(pic inside)

I'm getting a set of prostars and after reading stickies and searching, I'm still pretty confused.. I want to run drag radials not slicks out back on 15x8's.
Below is a pic of what I want my set up to look like. I got the pic from the wheel and tire gallery so I don't know the members user name. If someone is a wheel and tire expert and knows or can guess the backspacing and tire size this car has that would be awesome! thanks.

15x8 with 5.5" backspacing with 275/50/15 is what you're looking for

15x3.5 with 1.75" bs with a 165/50/15 OR 185/65/15 tire. you can get the 185 tires at tirerack.com for around $50 each and they are rated for higher speeds and i personally think they look a lil better

no prob man, and good luck. just beware that you'll also need some wheel spacers and your calipers will have to be ground down some.

I'm well aware of the grinding part but what size spacers should I use?

any size on the back. the thicker the spacer, the less grinding you'll have to do. most people go with like a 7/16 and some longer ARP wheel studs

5/16 on the front. some people go with longer studs on the front, some dont.

use only a 10" wheel, not 8". A 10" wheel will look and fit better then an 8" wheel and you will have better stability. Do not use 165 radials. Use a tire that is speed and load rated for your car such as an MTT-1573. You NEED 3.25" studs on all your rotors using the spacer.

I know that car, lol. Good choice of example pics. I ground down my calipers to fit Prostars(15x3.5, 1.75BS-front: 15x10, 7.5BS-rear) and they worked fine. Original owner of my car did alittle grinding and used 5/16th spacers all the way around and didn't have an issue. I do have extended studs on rear though. Is this going to be for track or street use? I just didn't feel right about using spacers as to why I grinded down calipers. That particular car you're using as example has 15x8s and a friend of mine used 15x8s as well with no issues. However, what SJM stated is a better, safer choice. Not to mention, 10s out back=greater contact patch for traction

BadMrfrosty, is that your car?

I'm selling the wheels that are on the car to get a set of drag wheels. The car will mainly see track use and maybe a short drive on a nice weekend. I was going to run the summit star wheels because they are inexpensive but I dont think they offer them in 15x10 for our cars. I also didnt plan on using spacers I was just going to grind until they fit.

No, not my car but I know the guy whom owns it. He is from Weaverville, NC. His screen name is 00SS4780 on here I think, and it's one of the best 4th gens around IMO. I wouldn't go with the Summit or Jeg's version of drag wheels as they are just as heavy as stock wheels. I agree with the non-use of spacers but be away, there's ALOT of grinding to be done and get something to cover your car's paint so the aluminum flakes you grind off don't get on paint. I didn't and car got went from a sprinkle while I was doing it and it stained yellow. Took 12hrs of claybaring to get it all off. It was all over car.

I just ordered my pro stars! 15x10's and 15x3.5's I'm going to get the pro kit so it sits nice and low.. Oh and I guess I'm going to need tires too. I forgot to ask but, I bet the wheels don't come with lug nuts do they?

Congrats on the wheels. That is my car pictured and I have a 7/16 spacers on the fronts with stock studs. No problems so far. I do have and recommend hardened studs on the back. Mine a 3". No problems after putting them on. I do have a small spacer on the back too cause I didn't grind the calipers down alot. Mine is also lowered 2".
