Default New BFG DR's right before 500 mile trip. Ok?

I have to get new rear tires. I figure this is the best time to switch to a drag radial (315-35-17). I am going to order a pair of BFG drag radials. I will be moving a week later and will have to drive 500 miles straight through. Is this ok to do on a new set of dr's??

I would buy some Nitto dr's since they last longer, but I keep reading that they run so narrow. That sucks! I have Sumitomo's now, and they are like driving on wet roads. With my stall, they only lasted about 5k miles.

it will be fine unless you are driving through snow. i make 500 mile trips on my pro stars and et streets, not the best idea for tire longevity but yeah

They'll make more I just refuse to deal with a new pair Sumitomo's for the next 5k miles again.

Get the Nittos, the BFG's will burn up QUICK with ANY kind of driving. My brother only got something stupid like 1500 miles of normal driving out of his. There alot softer compound then the Nittos and if your worried about the Nittois being to Narrow, get the next size up I've been running my Nittos for wawhile now and have well over 8k on them. They look worn but atleast there not burnt like the BFG's would be by now -=)

But the Nittos do look narrow as hell, especially in the 315 size.

Whateever you do, make sure you don't drive in the rain!!!! Well, if you buy the bfg's don't drive in the rain. I got caught last week, and had no choice for a few miles, was just hitting 3rd around 40 mph and hydro plained down an embankment.....Nittos are better if you happen to get stuck in the rain, but don't drive if you don't have to..

Well obviously his driving wasn't "normal" like you say because I get 6,000 mi out of a set driving the **** out of it from the time it comes out of the garage till the time it goes back in. And thats with two turbos strapped to the motor laying down some pretty good power.

Tell your brother to stop doing burnouts in the middle of a concrete road and they should last longer.

Bottom line is, Nitto still outlasts the BFG. If your plans are to drag race then BFG's but if your a weekend warrior, the Nittos are a better way to go. But why should I tel him to stop driving hard? The smile pedal owns all
