Default Will 275/40/17 MT Et street radials handle 500+rwhp?

my car makes 430 rwhp N/A and easily over 500 rwhp on spray. Do you think 275s can cut it? This car is not a daily driver. I have a pretty nice suspension set up as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think they could handle it, but you'd cut a better 60' with a taller sidewalled tire. Are you a 6 speed or running a transbrake? I think you'd for sure have better luck with a taller tire if either of these is the case.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've got a spare set of 17x9.5 rims to mount some tire onto here in a few months. My cars down for a single turbo install and when it's back together I'm going to be running my 4l60e until it dies. Hopefully it'll hold around 550rwhp (7-8 lbs of boost) off the footbrake. Depending on how it does on the nitto DRs that are currently on the car MPH wise, this will give me an idea if I should run the 275/40/17 hoosier DR I'm planning on, or if I should try the MT 295/45/17s (27" height instead of the 25.7") out when they're available again from backorder.

^ lol thanks for the input. Im running a 6 speed BTW.. i know a larger sidewall is much superior for launching, but this car is a street car, and the majority of the races this cars seen have been from a roll.

I had terrible luck with them @ 435/550 at the wheels (NA). They wouldn't hook up until I was going at least 50. Forget about spraying with them. Switched to the M&H 325/45/17. Now my car dead hooks from a 25 roll. I needed the extra height, for sure.

they wouldn't hook with my car at 500 but i was on stock suspension..and prob wont with ur car being a m6.. u might cur 1.80 and then ur rear will go BOOM.. how much time is on the 10bolt. if ur looking for tires still get the 325/45/17 m&h its taller and suppose to hook real good. thos will deff break ur 10bolt so bring a trailer. i run an auto and i think my 10's gonna go with the 275/15's Good luck

the thing is im running stock 17x9.5 SS rims (i think their 9.5), i thought you couldnt run a tire that wide.
my suspension consists of: Koni 4/3s, UMI adj torque arm, UMI pahnard bar, LCAs, SFCs, and strano sway bars.

Since your a 6 speed im gonna say NO. enless your just wanting to roll off the line . It will hook soon as you get out of first but if you want to launch off the line hard they wont be what your looking for especially with over 500to the wheels been there dont that . Now the 10bolt is burrowed time anyhow just dont worry about it and if it brakes dont fix it replace it with a real rearend. Also drag radials are not ment for manual cars even mt will tell you they were made for autos and et streets where for manuals.
