Default 17x11 wheels - Will they really fit?

I have received my O.E. Concepts ZR1 wheels, 17x9.5 (56mm offset) and 17x11 (+50mm offset).
TomZwheels suggested that I post here since there are supposed to be many folks using these size wheels.

After a trial fitting (no tires) I have concerns in two areas:

1. With the rear wheels on, raising the car by the body appears to be no longer possible without having the rim contacting the jounce pads and or brackets.
It appears that I must raise it by the axle.
Also it looks like during normal driving, suspension extension during a bounce would also cause the rim lip to strike the jounce pad and / or bracket.
Is this truly the case or am I missing something?

2. There appears to be about 1 1/4" of clearance between the rim and the inner fenderwell with the car at normal ride height.
Do these really fit without clearance issues using say a 285x40ZR17?
How about with a 315 size tire, which is really what I want to use?

Can anyone running the same wheel or same size, offset wheel tell me what you have run into as far as problems, if any, and what you had to do to use this wheel/tire combination?

Two different sets of 17x11 wheels.

First set shown is a set of 50mm offset ZR1s.

Rolled fender lips, wheel spacers and ARP studs only. NO hammering required. No other work required. The car is about an inch lower than stock. The tires are 315/35 Kumho V710s and rubbed NOTHING

Second set - CCW Classics. Same as above but with Hoosier A6 315s. In competition the wider Hoosiers rub the plastic in front and both the inner and outer fenders in the rear. Nothing terrible though.

You're going to have to learn to jack the car up from the differential housing, not from the sides. That will keep the bump stops out of the way when installing/removing your wheels. I never had a major problem with the wheels/tires hitting the bump stops due to suspension travel. I did have to hammer the inner fender wells and roll the outer lip because the tires rubbed in those areas.

As for tires, a 285/40/17 will work, but 315/35/17 is what most people run. Some manufacturers run wider than others, even if they're listed as the same size. For example, the Goodyear GSD3's run really wide compared to a Nitto NT555. So, a 315/35/17 GSD3 might rub like crazy while a 315/35/17 Nitto NT555 would never rub.

Default This helped.....THX!!

Thanks for the information folks.
I guess I will stick with the original plan, keep the 11 inchers, have the fender lips rolled and go with the Nitto 315s.
And blow the dust off my BFH just in case.

Thanks again for the assistance.

I jack my car from the side all the time and never touch anything. Not with the ZR1s and not with the CCWs.

This isn't really difficult or tricky. You simply have to get the backspace right via wheel spacers (if required) and maybe roll the fender lips.

And before someone complains about using wheel spacers, remember that not only do autocrossers and open track guys run them without issue but NASCAR Cup teams use wheel spacers as well. I'm willing to bet those guys throw more power and abuse at those things than anyone here could even think about.

Here are the spacers I ran with the ZR1s...

ive heard it depends on the tire, bfgs run wide so bfh is necessary, but nittos run a little narrower and bfh usually isnt needed. and beatutiful car ironhead, love the gunmetal zr1s.

You can always shave/grind down the side of the of the bump stop. Thats what i did. Worked like a charm.

ironhead, what kind of spacers are those? where did you get them? those look like they are of pretty good quality.

I just installed a set of OE concepts ZR1 17x11's with the 50mm offset and some nitto
315 35 17 555R's. I was told that if I was to jack the car by the rear axle they would fit. They did not! They contacted the bumpstops on both sides. No big deal though all I had to do was grind down the bump stop bracket about a 1/2" .
