Default New Wheel Installation

If you had to do some minor "clearancing" on this bracket to clear a new wheel (might not even need a grinder, it is so minor that you could probably do it with a file), what do you call this bracket/tab/?

Uhmm, that would be called part of your brake caliper.

It will be fine...have you not seen how much people grind their calipers when putting 15" Weld wheels on??

I don't see it as a problem. It's just the end of a bracket that has too much material on the end anyway. Not having to touch the actual caliper body and run the risk of grinding thru to the pressure cavity is HUGE.

Yea, I have seen some of those calipers! That is why I was wondering, since this bracket is NOT part of the caliper (must be part of the mounting bracket but sure is oversized for its pupose), if you had to clearance (grind may be too harsh a word for the little bit required) this to fit a 15x10, 15x12, 0r 15x14 would that be a big deal. And what would you call this and the little bit of work to get these wheels on?

You would call it grinding.

OK, grinding it is. You only have to remove about .050" off this bracket, could probably do that with a file. Compared to some of the calipers I have seen this grinding seems kind of incidental.

It's something new we are working on. We were sitting around one day when we realised that we had components in the shop to build a 15x10 bolt together that would pass DOT, SFI, and clear LS1 brakes. We got pretty close. Like I said, only takes about .050" off that mounting bracket. Front 15x3.5 looks like no problem, but even though the 15x3.5 will pass I am not sure I could ever reccommend them on the street, but then you more about that than I do 396.

Hmm....Do they look good? If they fit with that little bit of grinding, you could be a millionaire.

We have about 7 potential designs plus we are looking at black spokes verses polished spokes, we haven't come to a decision yet. I think we will take the candidates up to the Knoxville Nationals this week and let the people see them, get some feedback on the different designs. Here are 2 designs with black spokes we built up in a 15x3.5 and a 15x10 for test fitment.

Thumbs up

They look badass! 15x10 and 15x3.5 that actually fit a Gen 4 LS1.....
