Default Y2K wheels, 18s in front 17s in back?

I have a question I've been debating would like some further insight on. I have Y2K wheels on my '00 Z28 with 245/45ZR17s up front and 275/40ZR18s in back. I am looking for a good drag radial that will fit on the back wheels (18x9.5) but from what I've read, traction kinda sucks on an 18"DR. I've seen people on ls1tech put their 18s up front and 17s in the back but I think the 17s are 8.5-9" wide. My question is, what would be my best bet for traction and cost? The 17s have a 245 Falken on there now, since I'm going with a taller tire, how much wider can I get away with on that size rim?

Buy a set of stockers and run some 16 inch DRs on them. Cheaper and more effective... or just buy a pair of 17 inch wheels that match and run the DRs on them for track days.

I think I might buy (2) 17x9.5 wheels for the back just so I can run DRs on the street all the time. Just checked Tomzwheels but didn't see them on there. What other sponsors carry Y2Ks??
