Question Opinions KDW vs. 555 (non drag radial)?

Has anyone had both to give me a direct comparison? I really like the KDW tires I've had on my SS but now it's time to replace them and they are on an indefinite backorder. I'm thinking of getting the Nitto 555 instead but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed in the treadlife. I got over 30K miles out of my KDW. I don't drive the car real hard and I will have DRs for the track.
Thanks.

You will not get 30,000 out of the Nittos. Much better grip.

Are the Nitto 555 more narrow than the BFG KDW?

I've got over 30,000 miles on my KDWs and have never had a problem with them and they still have alot of tread left.

Yes Nittos are narrower than BFG's. by the way the KDW's are on a national back order.

About the NT555R II Extreme
A unique fusion of stiff sidewall construction and Nitto's popular Extreme Drag Radial tread design makes the new NT555RII an exceptional road course performer. Add to that its specially formulated soft compound, and you get a competition radial that exhibits impressive control and handling during severe lateral acceleration. Although the NT555RII is street legal, the tire's construction will offer a rougher ride when used for daily driving.

•High block rigidity, soft compounding and large contact patch provide extreme dry traction in race conditions.

•Two wide steel belts and two nylon cap plies stabilize tread for superior traction and handling.

•Steel sidewall inserts provide control and stability during extreme lateral acceleration.

•Spiral wound, jointless bead construction ensures high casing stability for superior control at high speed.

•Low void ratio and large tread blocks optimize dry traction.

•Heat cycling recommended for optimized performance and wear under race conditions.

•W- or Y-speed rated (depending on size), 6/32" tread depth, 100AA UTQG Rating.

About the NT 555 Extreme Performance
Make no mistake, Nitto's new NT-555 is for the performance-driven individual. When this new tire went on the drawing board, Nitto's engineers utilized racing concepts like the biggest achievable tread contact patch and specially formulated tread compounding to put incredible traction and handling at the very center of the NT 555's character.

•Tread pattern maximizes block size for high speed stability and superb cornering performance.

•High-density bead filler stiffens the sidewall to provide excellent steering response.

•Full-width steel belts and jointless edge and ply caps stabilize tread and resist deformation at high speeds for incredible stability and control.

•Advanced, high-grip compound delivers superior mobility on both wet and dry surfaces and enhances tread wear.

•Tread block diversity disperses pitch variations to reduce noise for a quiet ride.

•Z-speed rated.

Yes I know they're on backorder. That's what I said in my first post or I wouldn't even be considering the Nittos. And they discontinued the KD

I don't believe they offer them in 275 40 17.

I have found only one place that offers a KDW N/T in a 275-40-17 and that is at year one. and they are like 200 bucks a tire.
