Default rubbing w/315/35/17 on 17x11's

Just wandering if this tire size would be ok to run on my 17x11's without rubbing? I have 275/40/17's now but wanting to step up a size if possible. Does it also depend on the brand of tires? I have BFG's right now but looking to buy MT's or Hoosiers. Thanks!

yeah it can vary from brand to brand, nittos and the cheapo 315s mostly run very skinny. while BFG KDs and Goodyear GSD3s are some of the wider 315s. What may fit perfect on one car might need some BFH or rolling of the fenders on another...which is nothing to stress about both are easy. Are you at stock suspension still? that will also have alot to do with rubbing. Search is your friend, this thread has been posted weekly almost

as aforementioned, its going to depend on your car.

BUT

generally, at stock ride height
Nitto, Sumitomo - No rubbing
BFG, Mickey, GSD3, Hoosier - BFH'ing

lowered, i would BFH and roll the fenders to be safe on all of the above. no sense in buying new tires and potentially ruining a sidewall.

my BFG Drag Radials took a moderate amount of BFH'ing to make ME feel comfortable. others opinions may vary. this also might be a good time to look into an adjustable panhard bar. it will allow you to center up your rear axle and also stiffen up the rear end and reduce the chance of rubbing.

hope this helps!

I have 315/35/17 Sumitomo's for the street and I cut off the bump stops, BFH'd, and now I need to roll the fenders soon because it cuts into the sidewall when I hit a minor bump with a passenger(s) in the rear. I would just do all of these in percaution because all it can do is help!!

The nittos aren't bad maybe once in a while it will rub. My Mt's rubbed and cut a bunch. But they were way better at the track.

315's are the way to go. Wh8ich ever tire you decide to go with, go ahead and roll the fenders just so it'll save you any future headaches. I've had 315's on my car for about 5 years and run a few different tires, never had any trouble. Just don't do a 2" drop to your car and you'll be good.
