1. Fuel Consumption

The Tahoe Hybrid delivered 21 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg on the open highway. The impressive fuel consumption surprised everyone, especially coming from an eight-cylinder engine. The regular Tahoe deliver 14 mpg in the city, and 19 mpg on the open highway.

2. Towing Capacity

When you buy an LS Hybrid Tahoe, you aren't doing much settling. The Hybrid, when equipped, can tow up to 6,200 pounds, which means whether you have a boat or a trailer, this Hybrid will have no problems pulling it behind.

3. Price

The Chevrolet Tahoe LS Hybrid was considerably more expensive than the regular Tahoe. The original MSRP for the Hybrid was approximately $51,000, and the original MSRP for the regular Tahoe was approximately $41,000, which is over $10,000 difference. Some people thought it was worth the difference and some didn't.

4. Driving Modes

The Chevrolet Tahoe LS Hybrid is equipped with a V8 engine, and two 60 kW electric motors. The SUV can run on gasoline, on the electric motors, or on a mixture of both if you set it to the automatic Two-Mode Hybrid system. This smart-mode monitors the torque and the battery power to make the proper decision.

5. Regenerative Braking

The Tahoe Hybrid charges both batteries by generating electricity using the gasoline motor, but even better, the electric motors get charged as the vehicle decelerates, which is called regenerative braking. The regenerative braking regains energy using the forward momentum.
