1. V-Series

For those who would like to own a luxury vehicle that walks the line of luxury with power, then this is the car for you. Granted, this car does not have an LS engine under the hood but it's still a damn potent piece of machinery. I have heard many people say that the ATS-V is a great car if you'd like to own an American luxury car, but I think that's doing this car a great disservice. The car is out and out a great car to have regardless of the region in question. 464 horsepower coming from a twin turbo V6, forged crank, titanium con rods, and an upgraded valve train are some of the few things the smallest and lightest in the Cadillac.

2. Shield Perks

Cadillac and GM care about you as a customer just a little bit more than other brands. Cadillac wants their customers to have the kind of peace of mind that you can't really put a number on, but for some reason Mercedes-Benz and BMW have. Other luxury brands give out a paltry warranty compared to knowing that you are covered by Cadillac for 6 years or 70,000 miles on a Powertrain Warranty. Now add to that a 4-year or 50,000-mile bumper to bumper warranty repairs on the entire vehicle, which includes parts and labor to correct any problems.

3. The CUE

With tech-integrating more and more into our cars, GM made a system called CUE to keep drivers safe and connected. In the past, the CUE system has really ruffled owners feathers with the unintuitive nature and oft headache inducing menu system. It seems that they have ironed out all the major issues of years past and have a much better system in place now. By the way, CUE stands for Cadillac User Experience and is a centrally dash located touch screen interface that gives you access to a wealth of information, communication options, and entertainment avenues. Once you Sync your phone to the CUE system you'll have access to all your music and contacts. If you're familiar with using an iPad then you will have no big issues with the CUE system.

4. Track Ready

Okay, so how is a Cadillac going to give many other drivers a reason to pause when it rolls up to the track? Firmer springs and stabilizer putting the car at 50% more stiffness than the vanilla counterpart, a new suspension cradle mounts, zero-compliance ball joints in place of bushings and upgraded Brembo brakes. All of these improvements GM has made to this car along with the amazingly beautiful IMO body of the car pushed some automotive journalists to say that the ATS-V edged out the BMW M4 in areas to be the de facto entry-level toast of the luxury sports world. Add to that a heads up display and performance data recorder so that you can brag about track times and analyze experiences to fix any faults you may discover.

5. Plenty of Room

Whether it's a beer run to the grocery store, a road trip, or throwing in your gear to meet your friends for a game, the ATS-V has all the space you need. This car really is the best compromise you can make when your needs demand two more doors and a trunk, but race car is life. If you are a person of the taller variety, then your legs will sing like Aretha Franklin when you experience how far you can put the seats back and be free. In addition, if you are throwing things in the trunk and find that you need a bit more length, just push the rear seats down and voila!

6. Unbeknowist Grandparent Approved

Expect lots of glances from your elders because they will know that the younger generation hasn't forgotten about the pride of buying American. They'll be transported back to their own youth where they either lusted after a Cadillac or owned their own at one point. What they don't know is that this ATS-V is a far cry from what their vehicles were, as this is the equivalent of a big angry dog that can't decide if it loves you or wants to slit your tongue midway through a turn. To sum things up: Cadillac, yes. Luxurious land boat? No.

7. The Interior

Cadillac knows how to do an interior and if you question that, just cruise over to a dealership to stick your head into a cabin. If you then say, "this is a sport injected car and cannot be comfortable!," then I will reply that this car is a melding of the two interiors of their respective types. The seats are comfortable in a way that is at first odd but easy to conform to. The side bolstering that will hug you in turns and keep you from feeling helpless under acceleration can be adjusted to fit almost every width of frame. The cabin is German manufacturer quiet and the doors give an assuring THUNK when closed that would make any blindfolded Euro car fan pause as to what they have just sat down into. The steering wheel that you'll be gripping tightly as you take the mighty little Caddy through its paces is wrapped in beautiful Alcantara that encourages you to squeeze harder.

8. It Has a Manual!

Yes, you read that up there right. There is an optional six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching a launch control and "no-lift shifting" that will blow your enthusiast mind. That no lift shifting is a pretty nice feature when you're hot and heavy with the car and don't want to let the throttle out while going to shift to get the max acceleration from the car. If you are in the group of people who find it a bit cumbersome to shift at wide open throttle, then this feature is a god send. If for some reason you do not want a car that requires your input, then fear not because it is the same eight-speed automatic that is found in the C7 Corvette, with a smaller torque converter and control updates.
