1309WHP Cadillac CTS-V on the Dyno

Dyno videos hit my heart in a very different place. Different from track runs, time attacks, etc.

I liken them to powerlifting competitions: Impossible to understand and utterly ridiculous to those who aren’t in the know. Why would you place so much emphasis on a singular event, one achievement within a short 30 seconds? “What’s the big deal?”

But since we’re in the know, we get it. They’re ultra-refined, hyper focused translations of work and engineering. Anyways, I really love dyno videos for one reason – when the pedal gets stomped down, and the strapped-in-car hitches, making you think it’s going to burst out of its chains.

Here’s a video of “The most powerful CTS-V in the world”, created by SNL Performance making 1309HP to the rear wheels. The heart of the beast beats soundly with the addition of two Precision turborchargers, taking the 2nd gen 6.2-liter LS V8 from its “basic” 556 hp/551 lb-tq output all the way to a staggering 1309 hp/1306.9 lb-tq at 5,505 rpm.

Most ridiculous of all? It pulls these numbers with relatively no drama. No major hitching, just a small puff of exhaust/dust to indicate what had just happened.
